Testimonial Abdala Ahade Morripa

    Abdala Ahade Morripa was born in Mossuril, Nampula Province in 1957. During the 17-year long Civil War he fought with the Frelimo Forces. As an Infantry instructor and later, as a hostage negotiator. His military service took him to Russia, Cuba, China and several African countries. Since the war ended, Morripa has been helping to rebuild Mozambique.

    After working within the government District administrations of Ilha and Mossuril, he left to become the local Director of the Varanda Nature Reserve in Mossuril where he worked closely with the local community. In 2004 together with Dutch NGO, Teran Foundation, he co-founded a Community College of Tourism and Agriculture in his home village of Cabaceira Grande. As a Director of this College, he is helping to develop the area from the inside out. He is married and lives with his numerous family in the heart of his Macua community. His hobbies include filming, farming, and gathering local history. His great wish is to start a film school.
