It's a resounding win for voter apathy in Zimbabwe
- I strolled mid morning past three Gweru urban polling stations, not to go and cast my own vote but just to get a feel of the mood pervading this historic Zimbabwean election and what I witnessed there confirmed just who the urban electorate think should be President in Zimbabwe. Voter apathy spoke too loudly and clearly. To say there were no winding queues which characterised the first round of elections would be serious understatement. The only people you found there were polling officers who looked nearly outnumbered by the uniformed police deployed to keep the peace at each polling station. If what I saw at the polling stations at Chaplin High School, Gweru Theatre, and near the Clay…MDC Fears of rigging unfounded
- Zim elections - It is sad that reputable news outlets sympathetic to the opposition party MDC, such as the BBC, New York Times, The Guardian could also base their stories on such sensational speculations like what one gets from the story "Zimbabwe stands on the precipice".Some of us would caution restraint and moderation in politicians' claims of victory. Specifically I had an opportunity to vist Goredema, Gwebo and Mudondo Polling Stations on the polling day and the day after. What I can say is that Zimbabwe…ZEC to disenfranchise 70 000 voters

Sources in ZEC say each poling station is supposed to be manned by not less than 12 polling officials. If one works with an average of 700 polling stations per province, (some provinces actually have more) and give…Imminent rout of Zanu-PF
- Zimbabwe - Some political commentators predict that ZANU-PF will have a serious drubbing in the general elections slated for 29 March, marking the beginning of the end for the reign of the mighty ZANU-PF party in Zimbabwe.
“The split in the ruling ZANU-PF party, which has seen former finance minister and politburo member Dr. Simba Makoni entering the presidential ring as an independent candidate against his former party boss President Robert Mugabe, a move which triggered many defections of former ZANU-PF stalwarts rallying behind Dr Makoni bodes ill for the ruling party, for a house divided against itself cannot stand.” Said one Midlands State University Professor who prefe…
