It is not strange to see pregnant women eating soil cake during their pregnancy in Tanzania, especially in Arusha. It has become popular among women and teenager because of its flavor. Gloria, one Arusha resident, has been eating soil for more than three years now.
She has been at different hospitals looking for treatment for a diagnosed lack f some minerals. The soil cake she eats appeases her thirst, which cannot be otherwise quenched.
Parallel to that, women have turned soil cake into a profitable business especially at Morogoro region.
