W-Africa discusses Ghana's oil boom
- Posted on Tuesday 13 April 2010 - 21:31Kester Aburam Korankye, VoicesofAfrica mobile reporter in Accra, GhanaA team of insurers comprising of "big industry players" within the west Africa sub-region have held a meeting in Accra to discuss how best they can take advantage of Ghana's oil find.Loading video...The meeting which brought together about 70 insurance companies within and around West Africa was aimed at generating strategies to make oil and gas a blessing to the various countries that have since discovered an amount.
In an interview with Mr. Goker, the president of the association of west Africa Insures in Accra, he pointed out that "Oil and gas found in west Africa can be a curse if proper mechanisms are not put in place to secure it".
The two day meeting has since ended.
