Understanding what peace building means

Most often, I hear people ask questions about building a solid healthy relationship among families to bring about a lasting solution to internal conflicts. Some of these people have even asked what peace building is about and how to go about it. Growing up, i have bothered my mind on many occasions as to why people within a specific area would like to get at each other, and how to stop it.

However, the core points in peace building have mostly not been established. I therefore had an exclusive interview with Mr. Emmanuel Bombande who is the executive director of the West African Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP). Bombande earned a masters degree in conflict transformation from EMU and is now teaching at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center (KAIPTC), Legon Center for International Affairs (LECIA), and the West Africa Peacebuilding Institute (WAPI).

He is also a member of a team of experts conducting training in peacebuilding world with Caritas International. In the interview, he outlined the core points in peace building and the processes involved in attaining this goal.
