Uganda soldier on trial after shooting wife
- Posted on Saturday 27 October 2007 - 12:38A soldier by the names of private Omona Denis who allegedly shot his wife by the names of Nancy Akio last week and injured other two civilians at Parabongo IDP camp in Amaru district is on trial in the 4th Division court martial chaired by Brig. Peter Kerim heard that private Omona Denis on the fateful while on patrol at the camp as a platoon commander of 43rd battalion opened fire op the deceased killing her instantly.
He later informed the mother of the deceased that he had killed Ms Akio , court heard. ''This is unacceptable and if found guilty private Omona will face the wrath of the law .As a UPDF soldier ,he is expected to protect people and property while at work ,''said Brig.peter kerim while addressing several Parabongo IDP camp residents who witnessed the trial .
According to the particulars of the offence ,private Omona on October 14th at midnight allegedly shot Akio her of taking his money and infecting him with HIV with an SMG containing 4 magazines with 88 rounds. During the shooting , private Omona showered the deceased with 32 bullets, and other two injured ands he was later arrested by his relatives.
