Ethiopian Airlines pioneers to fly Boeing 787 Dream
- The Boeing 787 dreamliner will make its debut flight over the African soil on Sunday, 11 December 2011 at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. The Dreamliner will be in Addis Ababa for a few days as officials and employees of the Ethiopian Airlines (EAL) and invited guests have an inspection and closer look at the innovations and advanced technology of the Aircraft. Tewolde Gebre-Mariam, CEO of the Ethiopian Airlines said in a statement that the flag carrier is proud to be the first African Airliner to operate on-board the 787, providing passangers with better flight experience and asserting its leadership on the continent. Ethiopia and China signed agreement for construction of the first phase of Ethiopia-Djibouti railway project. General Manager of Ethiopian Railway Corporation and Vice President of China Railway Group (CREC) signed the agreement. - The first phase of Ethiopia-Djibouti railway project covers 317-kilometers of the 665-kilometers long Ethiopia-Djibouti railway line stretching from Addis Ababa to Mieso.
CREC, the world’s major railway contractor is expected to complete the construction within three and half years.
