Sudan 2010 elections
- By RAMADHAN RAJAB Government of Southern Sudan (GOSS) has raised a red flag over rigging plans by the National Congress Party (NCP) in next year’s National general elections. In response, to a dispatch from Sudanese ministry of foreign affairs and National Elections Commission, barring Sudanese residing from all other African nations from participating in the general elections, the GOSS liaison office in Nairobi faulted the move citing it is out to undermine Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM). Mr John Andruga Duku, GOSS head of mission in Nairobi, said apart from denying majority of Southern Sudanese who are immigrants across the continent their democratic ri…Southern Sudan braces for disintegration-NAIROBI

The documentary, tagged Overcoming Hurdles, is produced by the Federation of Women Lawyers (Fida). It was launched at Hotel Intercontinental and depicts the ugly political terrains metered on women seeking elective posts. It reveals women in political contest who face physical, verbal, sexual and psychological violence from their male counterparts. It notes that violence against women is mostly employed as a tool to maintain and enforce their subordinate status. Speaking during the launch of the documentary, Mrs Naomi Wagereka, Fida chair, said the film a…Hard times welcome Obama
Not many people witness historical occasions during their lifetime. Tuesday's Presidential inauguration in Washington DC will be one such occasion. But with just 24 hours to the historic moment, hard times and great expectations invite Barack Obama to the White House. - Just like Franklin Roosevelt, Obama may have much on his shoulders and unlike the only depression crisis FDR fought, Obama is compounded by numerous challenges that need thousands of fronts to be won. The global recession that has never been seen perhaps for 80 years. The Middle East and the African wars, thorny uncompleted operations in Afghanistan and Iraq and the China and Russia augment. These are the international h…It is now official Kenyan MPs have passed a bill to muzzle t
- What are we celebrating? I beg to know. Are we celebrating the trampling of our rights? Or are celebrating because we are being colonised by our own-the 212 members of parliament? As the country ‘celebrates’ this year’s Jahmuri day it is against the backdrop of poor leadership by the 10th parliament that has culminated into economic recession, muzzling of peoples basic and fundamental rights, arrogance from the Kenya MPs, torture, and many other sufferings that punctuates the lifestyle of an ordinary Kenyan. Contrary to the significance of the day-Jamhuri day our politicians unlike the Mau Mau fighters who carried the country on their shoulders to safeguard it from the…Kenya: Parliament muzzles the press

- THE YOUTH ARE A THREAT TO MILLENIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS. By Ramadhan Wahy Rajab The societal paralysis we are facing today is because we have allowed transformation of our society into a society of ‘garbage collectors’ and apes. The gradual erosion in our culture and vast adaptation to obnoxious lifestyle trends by the young generation, is clearly sounding a death knell to the realization of any economic strides that will alleviate us from poverty. The weakening of the societal fabric is moving third world nations further from achieving their ambitious Millennium Development Goals (MDGs.) Kenya being the worst affected. Those seen as steering this programmes seems…THE YOUTH ARE A THREAT TO MILLENIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS

'Sir, I say that justice is truth in action,' goes a former British Prime Minister and Novelist Benjamin Disraeli's adage. Where are those politicians who have been crying for justice to implement the Waki report? - The Kenyan transitions contrary to changing the country for the better, they are hell-bent on linking the past and present with atrocities. The scar of the post election violence is still fresh but it is sickening to see in a rare show of unity some politicians in unison ululating for the demise of a report that they clapped for its formation and now other suggesting for amnesty. For those politicians who have seen the need for its implementation, thumbs up.
A …ICT revolution in Kenya
A new Information Access Centre has been built in Kenya by the Korean government. Other African countries sharing this digital privilege are Egypt, Tunisia, and Nigeria. - The Ultra-Modern facility targets the digitally disadvantaged drawn from various Interest groups. It is a means of fostering access to information for all Kenyans. Only 2.5 million of the 31 million Kenyans are connected and can access the internet, less than eight percent of the population.

- The world goes haywire Man has been a rebellious animal since time immemorial, even up to the Garden of Eden where God had placed him and given him all privileges. Worse was the devil who had disagreed with God on some power sharing agreement and was kicked out to live amongst men. Out of boredom and propelled by curiosity man was tricked by the devil and ate the forbidden fruit, whatever it was! Ask me and I will tell you it was all pre-planned, God is a premeditated planner, you know! The perversion of man's mind that he ends up committing all manner of obnoxious deeds just to satisfy his curiosity is really mind-boggling. Nowadays, human beings are capa…ROLE OF MEDIA AND ICT IN PROMOTING PACE
- ROLE OF MEDIA AND INFORMATION COMMUNICATIONS IN PROMOTING PEACE. The belief that there would be mighty peace if the rapidly growing Information Communication Technology (ICT) and media were embraced fully is not far fetched. Convergence of these two industries and their deployment in war torn areas indicate hope of mediating not only for fragile but a permanent peace deal. This paper refuses to walk the academic path. But chooses to reside in the home of reality in exploring the role of media and Information Technology (IT) in building a peaceful world. Before I go miles, lets hold a meeting of minds on the functional benchmarks that defines peace. Peacemakers, scholars, and…ROLE OF MEDIA AND ICT IN PROMOTING PEACE
