Ken and Sankara: Africa should demonstrate its Innocence
- This is the last extract from the research, “UNDERDEVELOPMENT IN AFRICA: My Hands Are Clean”, as it relates to the role of local Africans in sustaining their own underdevelopments. The next extract to be (this) released at the public domain, though might have a different bearing on this argument is for the purpose of balancing the discussion. I hope you do enjoy reading these series of clips from the research, and I hope we can agree even to disagree. For the complete argument and evidences to support this line of thought, please see the book for yourself. –Thomas Sankara (Burkina Faso) And Ken Saro-Wiwa (Nigeria)– “It was exactly the 15th of October, 1…Underdeveloping Africa through Corruption
- This extract in two sub-headings is from the discussion: “INSINCERE POLITICS AND ETHICS INHIBITING SOCIAL/ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT”, (page 65 to 86). From the book “UNDERDEVELOPMENT IN AFRICA: My Hands Are Clean”, as was published earlier this month, (10th of November, 2010). Footnotes and images are omitted; see the book for more on the argument. –Corruption As A Deliberate Scheme To Facilitate Exploitation– “Whenever an argument is tabled about corruption in Africa, many people are usually enticed to jump in, flashing their numerous facts and figures on how a local politician have offered or accepted bribe; most especially in the dealings with…Nollywood, An Example Of Feasible Local Initiatives
- This is an extract from the research, “UNDERDEVELOPMENT IN AFRICA: My Hands Are Clean”. Except for the footnotes and the images, this extract (Nollywood Film Industry (Nigeria) As An Example Of Feasible Local Initiatives And Self-Reliability Among Africans) is exactly the way it was presented in the research, (page 200). A sub-heading under the discussion: “CONCLUDING” (page 189) “…To further show that the above submissions can be feasible, I will cite one example where it has clearly been demonstrated; the Nigerian cinematographic industry, also known as Nollywood. I’m citing it because it is a local initiative and it has contributed greatly to…UNDERDEVELOPMENT IN AFRICA: My Hands Are Clean
- A (research) book, by Ewanfoh Obehi Peter, published on November 10, 2010, partly to commemorate the 15th year of Ken Saro-Wiwa’s death (November 10, 1995). Also to Africa and Africans, in the Mid-50th anniversary of former independence in the African continent (1960-2010). While the arguments in this (216 pages) book might appear harsh on Africa, it was never designed to merely apportion blames, but to react to the popular opinion that “the underdevelopment in Africa is the Europeans’ fault”. In concrete terms, this research is an attempt to show that many Africans have actually played a key role in what eventually led to their underdevelopment. The evidence to…SOUTH AFRICA: FOOTBALL AND THE PEOPLE
- All eyes were on the Soweto’s historic Orlando stadium yesterday, where a huge international musical concert, geared towards the commencement of 2010 world cup was a boom. The musical artists and celebrities, dozens of them, both from within and outside the African continent all registered their wonderful messages, wrapped in music and short commentaries. The combination of football and musical spectators were tens of thousands in the stadium and they were all jumping in the air as the artists dictated with their music. “Football is connecting people…,” the FIFA president reminded the huge crowd in their expectancy. “Africa is showing that it is ca…MEND ends truce apprehension rises
- On October 2009, when MEND called off their violence campaign against oil installations, many peace-loving Nigerians were happy that calm has finally come to Niger Delta. Again, the hope is dashed and in a very bad time in the Nigerian history. In a statement yesterday, MEND said that the decision to call off the truce was after a careful consideration and extensive consultation. "This ceasefire was ordered in the hope that the government of Nigeria would consider true dialogue founded on a sincere desire to bring justice to the people of the Niger Delta, and true peace to Nigeria. It is sufficiently clear at this point in time that the government of Nigeria has no intention…Haiti in-between Hope and Despair
- The past few days have been very tough for the small island of Haiti where a natural tragedy struck and threatened to wipe out an entire population. It’s nearly a week on and hope is yet to be real to thousands of Haitians, except that the world is gearing its attention towards the American nation, already plagued with poverty and leadership quagmires. From the United States of America to Europe and other part of the world, the pitiable voices of Haitians are been heard loud and clear. In response, many foreigner aid workers are trooping in to assist weak people and reduce the humanitarian situation, in its worst state. As reported by the Associated Press this morning, a U.…Terrorism Attempt on Christmas day; a Call to Action!
- A 23-year-old Nigerian, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab mad the already badly reputed West African country more popular, on Christmas day, when he tried to blow up a U.S. passenger plane. From Lagos international airport to Schiphol and then to Detroit, the United States, Farouk Abdulmutallab was on his mission to surprise the world with terror and take more than 300 lives to the grave with him. But how did he manage to go through these highly secured international airports? “Nigeria will equip its international airports with full-body scanners next year,” Dr. Harold Demuren, Director General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, said yesterday at a news conference in Lagos…Cease weeping Africa
Oh Africa, You have shouldered enough pains...
Cry no more and cease the lamentations!...
Save your eyes the waters...
Less, the kids...
Are fed with acrimonies... - Why, Bigger Brothers;
Why degenerates the land into a pool of tears
And abandon the infants
Without a piece of bread on their opened hands?
You subscribe to some false rules.
What about the instructions of your fathers?
The land of many colours and wondrous creatures...!
The outcry of thunder trembles the hearts of many folks,
But it’s only a demand for obedience...
The harshness of the sun cannot dry up the land,
Because the heavens will water it in surplus and
Cover its nudity with green.
Yes,…IT’S PARTY TIME IN DAVOS!
- No one has said that Switzerland is a poor country. After all, it has the most secured vault for our currencies. No wonder that started by tomorrow the leaders of our world will be flagging off their five days merriment in the European financial home. Many are convinced that they would be agreeing and disagreeing on how to fix the world economy which suddenly collapsed in their hands. But what hasn’t allayed the fear of some is how much the world leaders are really prepared to clean up the mess. Whether the few of them would merely feast around the table as usual while the more than six billion people in our miserable planet are forced into an impromptu fasting, our…IT HAS HAPPENED!
- Is it the, ‘Enough for Slave Trade, the Braking Down of Berlin wall or the Up Rising against social injustice in our various societies? It definitely takes extraordinary courage to ignite the wind of change. Some say Barack Obama was opportune by the moment to write a page in history. Whatever; the truth is that he had conquered yesterday and today is soon come! Apart from the historic events which led to his presidency, he is surely going to make big headlines in the up coming days, especially with the global financial meltdown and social upheavals in various parts of the world. That sounds very distractive to some Africans who might have been thinking they could go to sl…AN AFRICAN PRINCE IS TURNING KING IN WASHINGTON
- If you think this is none of your business simply because you are not in America, then you need to think again. When last did you see the whole world rallying around one man in the name of restoring home to the hopeless? When last did the politicians put the rejected people in question and play politics without drawing their over exaggerated line of races and ideas? Come to think of it, there is really no different among us all! Obama has made is clear: 'It's possible to work together...' After all, the world is us and we are part of what will want to change. Hail all people of goodwill. Ewanfoh Obehi PeterStop killing in the name of state
I am writing in response to an article entitled: "On death row, Nigerian draws the hanged." There is nothing as wrong as death penalty. The state as an institution has no moral justification to take the life of its citizens, just as it has no power to replace the same life, if by chance it is later discover that the executed person was innocent. - How can there be absolute punishment in a society which lacks the ability to administer absolute justices? The ability to be wrong or right is in the human nature; therefore, people should be given the possibility to repent of their wrongdoings. After all, death penalty has not eradicated criminality in any human society.
