Inadequate finance poses a challenge to resettle IDP’s
- Increasing cost of land in Kenya is one of the major challenge in relocating internal displaced persons. Special programmes minister Esther Murugi said that the government had set aside Ksh. 200,000 to purchase land for each homestead displaced but it has turned out to be low since the owners of the lands are demanding Ksh 250,000 to Ksh. 300,000 per acre. “It’s so unfortunate that it is difficult for us to purchase land where we can resettle the IDPS since the owners of the land are asking for a lot of money,” said Murugi.
