Mama Amos has every reason to smile because she is making sweet money from selling water daily.

‘I earn about 20,000 Tanzanian shillings per day and I use the money to educate my children. I take care of this well even during rain seasons and my livelihood relies on this well by 100 per cent’, she says.

Ms Amina Muniko, one of the water users remarks: ‘we thank Mama Amos because this well is providing water to many people’.

The natural well has the capacity to serve around 2000 water users per day, according to her.

Most parts of Northern Tanzanian have experienced a prolonged drought, forcing many water sources to dry up.

Unlike other parts of the East African country figures indicate majority of people in Tarime town have no access to safe and clean water.

This contributes to cause water borne diseases including out break of cholera in the town with around 50,000 population at this time.
