Tanzania: Kids in hard labour during school time

The pupils accuse teachers for turning them into domestic workers something which they say contribute to affect their academic performance.
‘Our teachers have always been sending us to collect firewood instead of teaching us’, laments Businye at standard four pupil at Kenyamosabi primary secondary school she says.
On her side Wankuru Marwa describes the work as tough for young school children like her.
‘It is a tough work and I don't like it but we have no option’, complains Wankuru.
Senior government education officials were not immediately available for comment
Shortage of classrooms, teachers houses, pit latrines are some of the challenges facing majority of public primary schools in Tanzania.
