Sound clash…Blak Mexxiah schools Jupitor, Mr.Logic..
- Posted on Tuesday 24 May 2011 - 01:32On Saturday, may 14th, at a place called fair gardens in Accra, Blak Mexxiah astound patrons who had gathered for a dancehall clash when he turned the stage into a class room.
The show, which was slated for 10 pm did not start until half past mid night. When it finally did, Blak Mexxiah established his disgust for the whole organization saying “this is not proper, we have to do things accordingly as Rastas” while he had made this point from the beginning, the main clash had started amid cheers from fans that had now moved closer to the stage.
Jupitor, a young, trying dancehall music enthusiast who claims himself a gangster had a considerable amount of people hailing him, however, his pronouncements some how troubled most of the gathering crowd who were mostly Rastafarians. Jupitor claimed that, Emperor selase- conceded a messiah in the Rastafarian movement- was a gangster because he led an army to fight the Europeans and therefore he being a gangster was on point.
Mexxiah, also known as Hard Core Gavana was quick to object, saying “his majesty was a warrior and not a gangster”. The whole place went gaga after this statement. He continued “see this small boy has told the biggest lie and probably I have to teach him”. The rest of the show was delightfully dedicated to teaching the crowed while other contenders looked on in amazement.
A fan who spoke to me after the show said “it’s incredible to know that a Ghanaian musician has all this knowledge, I must confess that I did not imagine anything like this to ever come from a musician” adding that “Mexxiah is a priest not a musician”.
However, Mr. Logic, a gun promoter, who sits on an Accra based radio station and profess the word of gangsters, could not take the embarrassment as the organizer, moderator and also manager of Jupitor. He did not give a verdict for the clash, but rather asked fans to call him on radio to cast their vote.
In response to this, Bandana, an established musician in Ghana rubbished the decision of the organizers, saying “they are only ashamed, didn’t you see the difference? Mexxiah is by far a great musician and calling him out for clashes would only amount to such disgrace they refuse to admit”.
In an interview with Mexxiah, he established his willingness to teach people about the great ancient African spirituality, studies, science and music, which according to Gavana has inspired him till this day. He said “Africans, both home and abroad have to know about their civilization that precedes that of the west” adding that “ I am ever ready to welcome anybody who wants to join my organization, RasGav Int. which seeks to teach and help Africans get closer to the ever living.
