Sierra Leone: Amputee club wins Africa Cup

    The Sierra Leone Single Leg Amputee Sport Club has retuned home from Liberia after they have won the Run off Cup during the second edition of the African single Leg Football Tournament, hosted in neighbouring Liberia. The club is sponsored by Africell.

    Revealing this to a new conference at Mamba Point, in the capital Freetown recently, the Single Leg Amputee Sport Club Public Relations Office known as the PRO, Albert Manley Mustapha said that Africell is the only mobile company in the country that has given hand in boosting them both morally and financially.

    He went on to say that they are not too surprise over the support because Africell has been given similar support to Sierra Leone’s National Football Team Leone Stars.

    The Single Leg Amputee Sport Club, the PRO went on, started in 2007, but their initiative and commitment has transformed them to a continental level.

    Speaking on behalf of Africell, the Commercial Director, Joe Amara Bangalie said their support to the Single Leg Amputee Sport Club has yield some fruit thereby securing the second position in the competition.

    Africell, he added is ready to help sports activities as this is not the first time adding that it is one of their social responsibilities in the country.

    United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP) Communications Specialist Peter Thawon said they are ready to work with Africell mobile company since they are embarking on developmental issues.

    Jabati Mambu, President, Single Leg Amputee Sports Club revealed plans to host the U.K Amputee team next month in the capital Freetown.

    He encouraged Sierra Leoneans to give their utmost support during the encounter.
