Senegalese top football list in Europe
- Posted on Thursday 28 October 2010 - 10:17Walter Wilson Nana, AfricaNews reporter in Buea, CameroonResearch findings carried out by French Football magazine, France Football and made public Wednesday, have indicated that Senegal internationals are topping the list of African players trading their skills in Europe's five top leagues.
In alphabetical order, France Football noted that the division one leagues in England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain employ 30 Senegalese footballers.
Ivory Coast comes second with 28 players it supplies to those five top leagues, while Cameroon with 26 of its professionals is placed third ahead of Mali and Nigeria who each furnish 22 players.
During the 2002 World Cup in Japan/South Korea, Senegal defeated then reigning champions France with a squad composed of 80 per cent of players coming from the French top flight.
