How can the media personalities, reporters, broadcasters, newscasters and camera crews use their training techniques in preventing violence and fights amongst our communities, countries, continents and in the whole world. In the conference centre, journalists through various discussions tried to come up with solutions to challenges most of the media organizations face in their day to day activities.

And this challenges are actually blocking the need of change in our daily life. One of the challenges is lack of press freedom. This the major problem that is contributing to lot of conflicts because the media has no power to disseminate newsworthy items to its listeners or viewers. For example a Journalist like Meera Jamal had to escape from her own country Pakistan to Germany because of the death threats she received from unknown sources.

Meera is now working with Deutche Welle in the Urdu department. Another challenge facing the media is lack of instant internet network. News is termed as fresh events or extra ordinary things affecting ordinary people. In this case, a story must be produced as soon as it happens. But how can this be done with poor internet network? The available cyber cafes with instant network takes advantage of it and changes thrice the expected amount.

With fast internet reporters can signal various happenings that lead to conflicts and bring them to public domain hence minimizing violent acts. Mean while the Voices Of Africa media foundation based in Netherlands have come up with a very good project which would help in solving long term conflicts in Africa. The organisation trains young African men and women between the age of 20 and 30 on how to make video reports using mobile phones.

The foundation with its offices in Harlem provides with all materials needed in making these videos and then they are later published on the website www.voicesofafrica.com .The African young reporters are fed with training techniques and knowledge for six months whereby they are rewarded with a certificate to prove that you can make good videos not only for the website but also for other media organisations. In short they train these young reporters to become self reliance in future and also to create employment.

Most the people are indulging into conflict acts because of joblessness and idleness amongst the youths especially in Africa whereby the old generation is sticking to big posts in offices, companies and big organisations. With this kind of training from Voices of Africa Media Foundation, most of the youths in Africa are quite busy make videos and they have no time to plan for conflicts. The trainees are also very close to the ordinary people and they can actually get views in a broader perspective because no one is tensed when a mobile phone is used to record sound, videos and images.

In that case the Voices Of Africa had its own stand and couple of reporters in the DW Global Media Forum whereby we took this chance to explain whatever that takes place in the organisation. Almost everyone was impressed with the idea and we got a lot support from the participants. In the BOB award ceremony organised by DW, Voices Of Africa media foundation was very proud to be awarded with the best video blog.
