No trace of 50 gorillas in Virunga Park

  1. Nord Kivu is one of the region in DRC that there is not peace at all. As every body knows, there is a bloody war now between Nkunda’s troops and FARDC. This is happening just within Virunga Park where the last mountain gorillas live.

These animals’ guardians were disarmed by Nkunda’s men and they thought that it is safe for them to leave the place due to the situation. The villagers organized themselves to protect these abandoned animals.

When these villagers realized that Nkunda troops wanted to enroll them by force in their troops, they ran away too and these poor gorillas are abandoned. We don’t know if animals have run away to Rwanda or if they were slaughtered because they are exactly in the battle area.

This province will face economic problem because no tourist will be visiting this area until the war stops.

    Hello Mandaba,

I hope the gorillas are fine. I have visited one of them in 2006 (Rwanda) and I was fascinated of this gentle and intelligent animals. It woud be cruel and awful if they were slaughtered.

I hope too the war between Nkunda and FARDC will end soon. You have so many to do in your countrys, there is no time to fight.

    Do you live in DRC?

    Regards Momo
