Nigeria unveils coach next week
- Posted on Tuesday 23 November 2010 - 09:12Walter Wilson Nana, AfricaNews reporter in Buea, CameroonThe Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, is expected to officially make public Samson Siasia as substantial coach of its men's national team next week, barring any hitch in plans. SuperSport.com quoted a top official of the Nigerian FA, who mentioned that the new date could be November 30.
However, the date is still subject to confirmation by the Executive Committee of the NFF that meets this week to discuss various issues bordering on football in the country, including Siasia’s appointment.
The date of next week looks a possibility as the country’s football governing body is keen to make sure that Siasia assumes duty as Nigeria’s head coach on Wednesday, December 1 in preparation for the ongoing 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
“From what I know the new coach, Siasia, should be unveiled in time to start work on December 1. In fact, the possible is that he will be unveiled next week or to be precise November 30. But that date is yet to be confirmed until the NFF board meets this week,” said the official.
