Nigeria: FA officials stay in jail
- Posted on Sunday 12 September 2010 - 14:50Walter Wilson Nana, AfricaNews reporter in Buea, CameroonFormer Nigerian Football Federation [NFF] president Sani Lulu Abdullahi and his three associates will continue to spend time in jail after failing to meet the deadline for their bail conditions. Their bail was set at N100 million each by Justice David Okorowo, along with two sureties.
The conditions were expected to be met before close of work Wednesday, September 8 to allow the men spend - Amanze Uchegbulam, Taiwo Ogunjobi and Bolaji Ojo-Oba - the sallah holidays with their respective families.
But the men failed to meet the conditions before the close of business and will remain in custody.
The former football officials are facing trial on a 10-count charge of misappropriating a sizeable chunk of Nigeria's 2010 FIFA World Cup funds.
