  1. Zambia: 400 traders lose trading spaces


    Close to 400 traders operating from Lusaka's Town Centre market in the central business area of the Zambia Capital, this morning were subjected to a rude shock when they found their makeshift trading stores demolished by the City's Local authority. - The turn of events has enraged the 400 traders, who complain of being inappropriately notified of this morning's demolition exercise by the Lusaka City Council. The Lusaka City Council and traders have for some time been embroiled in wrangles arising out of construction of modern shops at the premises the traders conducted their business.   2. Mugabe advised to call-off June 27 election


    Zambian Republican President Levy Mwanawasa has advised incumbent Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe to call off the presidential elections run off scheduled for June 27 this year. - He says the prevailing situation in Zimbabwe is not conducive for the holding of free and fair elections. Speaking as Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community- SADC- president Mwanawasa is advising President Mugabe to postpone the elections until an environment peaceful and fair enough to hold free and fair elections is established in that Country.
