Mobile project gets East Africa Coordinator

Khamis Ramadhan is independent journalist and filmmaker of great renown based in Nairobi, KenyaLoading video...“The digital media and the internet are now part of the African media landscape and make mobile reporting essential”, says Khamis, adding that the Voices of Africa project is an opportunity for him to nurture and share his rich experience with young East African men and women.
“By doing so, we will jointly bridge global information gap, create more employment and exercise freedom of expression and right to information”, he added.
Khamis has been focussing more than 20 years on community related activities in the region and has a great experience in working in hostile environments such as Sudan, Rwanda Uganda and Congo. He gives lectures and trains up coming journalists, most of them from marginalised communities.
His work for the Voices of Africa Media Foundation will include the selection, training and coaching of young East African men and women who want to become a camera journalist, financially supported by the Foundation and making use of mobile phones as a reporting tool.
