  4. Egypt to host 11th African Union summit


    - Among other issues, the summit will discuss two main themes that are of great interest to the African population:The first is the means of enhancing industrial development in the continent. In this regard, a number of meetings comprising the African ministers of trade and industry will be held in the near future to discuss the implementation of the "African Industrial Development Strategy", the main theme of the tenth African Summit.The second is "Water and Sanitation in Africa".   5. Egyptian player most popular on the Globe


    - The Egyptian football star, Mohamed Abou Trika, won the title of the most popular football player in the world that was announced this month by the International Association for Football History and Statistics. The star, who plays for Al Ahly Club of Egypt and the Egyptian national team which currently plays in the African Cup of Nations in Ghana, received more than one million votes. The Egyptian player was followed by the Saudi player Yasser el Qahtani who received 613.116 votes and the Iraqi player Yones Mahmoud who received 583.769 votes. As for the Brazilian star Kaka, who won the best player in Europe and in the world in the year 2007, came in the seventh place.

  6. Egypt heads Afro-Chinese consultations


    - AfricaNews - Egypt will preside the first Afro-Chinese Ministerial Consultative Meeting set to take place in New York City on September 26th 2007. The Chinese minister of foreign affairs and his African counterparts from 46 countries will attend the preparatory meeting. This meeting aims to pave the way ahead of the 2009Afro-Chinese summit which will be held in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el Sheikh.
