MERQURY QUAYE FAN STORMS ATLANTIS RADIO

  1. Merqury, host of the evening drive on Atlantis 87.9fm in Accra got a big surprise whilst on air offering companionship to his listeners on Tuesday. The show was nearly disrupted when a fan stormed the station and threatened to shoot at anyone that prevented him from seeing his model instantly.
The overzealous reveler who gave his name as Kumako, believed to be a Togolese, turned up at the Ridge based station around 4pm to tell a receptionist that he had an appointment with the presenter. Surprised, Merqury, on air at the time, told the receptionist on an intercom that he had no such appointment.
“I want to meet Merqury”, he insisted. It took several minutes for members of the station’s management team to get the beleaguered fan to understand that he couldn’t join Merqury ‘on air’ nor meet him if there was no confirmation of the said appointment by the host.
When indications pointed to the fact that he could not meet the former Soundcity VJ, desperation set in – he decided to resort to threatening anyone that came in his ‘way’ to reach the adorable host but was pulled away through the exit.
Sources from the station confirmed that the man had visited the station to submit letters to be delivered to Merqury on three occasions and had also sent in several text messages to the station’s SMS line stating his admiration of the radio personality.
Merqury can be heard live on Atlantis Radio on weekday from 4 to 7pm.
