Kids love playing and it will only be good for them if they play in clean and safe environment, This is what kids who resided in Kibera and now moved to the new flats under the slum upgrading project now enjoy having.

These kids now enjoy playing as Jane explains: “back in slums we used to play and our playing balls could go straight to the dirty trenches and we could also fall in the trenches at times".

Kids could also go to fields back in their schools but they are dusty hence making them prone to infections like flu. The new flats however provide clean and safe environment for playing; clean trenches and slabs around to cover the dust hence a smooth play ground. The big boys on the other hand are disgruntled with the space they have claiming that its too small for playing 'real' football or even basketball though the area is clean and safe for playing.

“back in the slums we had fields for playing but they were dusty and located next to heaps of garbage or murky trenches but here we are happy the area is clean though not enough for us to share with our younger siblings”, says Dennis a 16 year old.
