Kenya: Cushioning unemployment

In Kenya, where unemployment was already chronic, the situation reached worrying proportions, pushing people to look for alternative solutions, like self-employment.Loading video...Unemployment in Kenya is an old phenomenon since early 1990s. Governments have been struggling to bring to an end the crisis but with little achievement. The government that took office after the year 2002 promised to champion for jobs creation and especially for the youth.
In its advocacy to urge the youth to join profitable economic social ventures which are job creating, efforts by the citizens towards this are being realized. I met Mr. Juma Nguya, a radio repairer in Mtito Andei in Kibwezi district, and asked him how he is coping with the unemployment issue.
