Waste disposal has been a major issue in most slum areas leaving sights of huge garbage and dirty trenches all over. This situation is now a thing of the past among residents who were relocated to the new flats under the slum-upgrading project.
In their new residence the ministry of housing has organized collection and disposal of garbage around each block by the residents hence encouraging them to keep the environment clean. Classes were also organized for the residents to orientate themselves in their new houses and how to maintain their water closets and sinks in order not to bring the slum habits to their new homes.
