Ghana's under-13 cricket team has made the West African country proud by emerging champions in the maiden North-West Africa Cricket Championship in Accra. They won with a higher run rate over fellow contenders, Sierra Leone. The all play all game saw Ghana annexing the trophy with massive points.

Both Ghana and Sierra Leone beat Nigeria in the last games but the lower points gained by the Sierra Leonia’s made the host triumph in the tournament. The tournament was graced by tremendous spectators across the country cheering the young cricketers to feel at home.

The Chairman of Ghana Cricket Council Daniel Vanderpuye Orgle paid tribute to the various teams saying “it has created platform for them to exhibit their dream talents.”

He appealed to corporate firms to invest in cricket in order to improve upon the game by inculcating it through basic schools to the tertiary level.

The Gambians came third, followed by the Nigerians and Cameroon occupied the bottom spot.
