Ghana: Reporting introduced in primary school
- Posted on Tuesday 2 March 2010 - 21:28Francisca Nuvor, VoicesofAfrica mobile reporter in Accra, GhanaThe introduction of "Weekly News" among the pupils of Agomeda D/A Basic School has brought about drastic change in school attendance including lifestyle as resulting in excellent performances of the pupils. Speaking to Mr. James Dotse, the editor of the Weekly News in an interview, he said, the introduction of news among the pupils which started about a year ago has really have an impact in their lives, both academically and morally.Loading video...His colleagues Jonathan Nartey Tetteh, Louis Cudjoe Davor have been added supporters of the programme. The Headmaster, Mr. George Nii Akwei Nmai is enthusiastic about the news among the pupil because, he believes it will introduce them to high range of environment. Samuel Kofi Karikari 18, Nanor Nuekwor Esther 15, and Dormekpor Stephen Mawuli 16, all in their final year, consist of the news team.
Samuel Karikari who is the leader of team said, "initially I used to be sacred but no more". He therefore acknowledges his editor's effort and that of the school authority for introducing such a programe to build up their confidences.
Agomeda D/A Junior High School in the Damgbe West District in the Greater Accra Region with a population close to 300 are therefore privileged to have such a programme running in their school and are very happy about it. The programme which is held every Friday morning after church service is really upgrading them in first hand information's, and they hope it well forever continues.
