Day of caring is a unique volunteer event usually scheduled on or around Valentine's Day each year with the aim of redirecting the spirit of love and compassion inherent in the Valentine's Day tradition toward community building activities. The annual event has for the past three years contributed immensely to several communities, touching nearly 6000 lives through the generous participation of more than 900 volunteers.

Newmont has also instituted a programme whereby employees contribute a certain amount of their salaries to the charity of their choice, with the contribution matched by management. Speaking in an interview with Yaw Antwi-Dadzie, the External Affairs Manager of Newmont, he said, it is a paid work day off to share love with the vulnerable in the society.

Dr. Chris Anderson, Director for Cooperate Affairs for Newmont, said they intend to have a long term relationship with the school. Madem Mahela Narh, the headmistress of the school also expressed their gratitude. United Way Ghana is a not-for-profit organization, that seeks to build community capacity for sustainable development in the areas of health, education, and income generation through collaborative efforts of all stakeholders.
