English coach of Malawi resigns via SMS
- Posted on Thursday 8 May 2008 - 08:25Harry Mangulanje, AfricaNews reporter in Blantyre, Malawi, photo: stephenconstantine.co.ukStephen Constantine, the English coach of the Malawi national soccer team, has spoiled the reputation of all European coaches in the minds of Malawi's Football Association and all Malawians by making an embarrassing resignation through a text message.
Reading some Malawian newspapers, banners scream, ‘No more English or European coaches in future, enough is enough’.
This incident happens barely a year after the German Burkhad Ziese, who once coached Ghana and Zambia, was dragged from the field of play when refused to accept termination of his services for undermining and castigating authorities.
Ziese at one time challenged to meet Head of State to talk about football, an idea Malawians widely described as silly and disrespectful considering that Office of President is a revered authority and can only talk about a subject at own discretion and not being cajoled by anyone.
Trench of defeats
Constantine, who is believed to have once coached Nepal, Vietnam, India and Cyprus where he was fired for dragging teams into a trench of defeats, last month dumped Malawi national team in Mozambique after losing a game against the Maputo snakes in African Nations Cup for local players which has just been introduced this year. He never communicated to his employers of his trip when he dumped the team and later sent text messages and emails to senior players announcing his quitting.
One of the texts according to one Russian based player Esau Kanyenda who confirmed it, read like, ‘I think there are big problems in Malawi more than I thought and I have with regrets resigned, I thank all you for being nice, hope we would interact elsewhere.”
He later sent similar messages but this time through emails to senior officials including the President Walter and his vice Moses Mkandawire Nyamilandu.
Resume duties
But barely two weeks after resigning Constantine has returned claiming he wants to resume duties and serve three months notice. He jetted in Malawi on Tuesday and looking stubborn refusing interviews with the press and ordering Malawi Airport security men to bar any reporters from getting closer to him as well as restraining any cameraman from capturing him.
But Chief Executive for Malawi FA Charles Nyirenda has said Mr. Constantine has arrived as a tourist and not as coach, because he resigned and cannot be given back the team.Constantine is in bad books with most senior players who could have supported his u-turn.
Meanwhile Malawi FA is considering recruiting two former players as coaches. The two are revered coaches at club level. Malawi meets Djibouti, Egypt and DR Congo this year in African Cup and World Cup qualifiers.

- Posted on Friday 09 May 2008 15:06I personally think that Africa needs to reconsider her position in all fields of human endeavor and cease this inferiority mentality that some expert from some other race is better equipped to coach African sportspersons. It seems to be a widespread menace in African minds when they see some other skin color that they denigrate and belittle experts with skin colors similar to their own. We disrespect our own talents, denigrate our own inventors, and disparage African brains and minds as inferior. Only a western-trained African is respected and hel in high esteem. An African that does not have a university degree no matter what he does is despised. Yet Lord Krisna, Lord Buddha, Lord Jesus, Mohammad (SAW), St. Peter and Great Saints and Minds like Kabir Sahib, Maulana Rumi held no university degrees. Still they stand out as the world's most precious jewels acclaimed the world over.
It is time that we people of the Black race emerge from that colonial mentality programing that tends to make us think that everything black or African is inferior and everything some other race some where is superior.
By saying this I am not being racist but am showing fellow Africans that our brothers and sisters of other races respect themselves and they have self esteem for being who they are as persons belonging to their races; why not us? A racist is the one who will mislead you into thinking that when you think African, speak African, or act African then you are being racist. Behaving with self esteem as an African is not being racist. Never. What Africa and Africans need to understand is that there is a lot of talent among themselves. It is a matter of identifying these talents, nurture and develop them for the benefit not only of Africa but all the human race. We need to see African talent hired in South America, Europe, Asia or America as experts the same way people of other races are hired by Africans to serve in Africa.. There is nothing racial about talent.
Let me inform felow Africans that talent and or super-gifted qualities abound all across the world including Africa. What has kept Africa behind in many fields is our failure to identify, nurture and support African individuals, especially African born-super-gifted children, in the development of their gifts. Years ago I wrote an article in Uganda's New Vision newspaper about the question of Super-gifted Children. I recall in that article that I informed my readers how the United States took a stance in identifying and developing talent in science and technology and space science after seeing the Soviet Union's satellite - the Sputnik in space towards the end of the 1950s. The US was threatened by the Soviet Union by sending the Sputnik satellite into space before America did. Seeing this, President John F. Kennedy, declared that the US needed to identify and help develop American talent with a bias in science and technology so that by the year 1970, America would have landed the first human being on the Moon. In 1969 America's Neil Armstrong was landed on the Moon by the American Satellite, Apollo 9. Why cannot Africa do a similar thing by putting into place a special African Program identifying, nurturing and developing African natural gifts?
As long as Africans look elsewhere for talent, Africa will never develop and uplift herself out of the quagmire of backwardness; ignorance, poverty and disease, ethnic and religious as well as cultural discrimination.
Let me also point out the fact which usually remains unrevealed: talent grows better and faster when the citizens carry within them some form of understanding of the esosteric sciences. What most people do not know is the fact that most of the leaders and great minds of America and Europe have always come from "cults" (secret esoteric and or occult organizations) such as the Skulls and Bones (headquartered in New Haven Connecticut). The Free Masons, The Rosicrusians, Opus Dei (an Italian secret organization) based in the Vatican and others. It is a known fact that many of the American presidents have gone through some such secret organizations.
Brilliant minds worldwide have some unrevealed connections with some secret organizations whether they admit it or not. They are not supposed to admit to any suggestion that they do, anyway- but it is the truth.
Men and women who have been exposed to the secret information in these organizations appear to have a better understanding of the human mind and how it functions. With this understanding they work their way out of the ordinary humans and skyrocket their personality attainments higher than the best- they attain what they call Self-Actualization. Hence we find great men like Albert Einstein, Sir Isaac Newton, George Washington, Thomas Edison, Benjamin Frankline, Sir Francis Bacon, Leonardo da Vinci and others. Esoteric knowledge is a pre-cursor to mystical wisdom. Esoteric comprehension sharpens the human mind so much that the individual begins to tap into the otherwise untapped side of their brains.
Even the Greatest of men like, Pythagoras, Apollonius of Tyna, Lord Jesus the Christ, Prince Gautama the Buddha, Shamaz Tabriz, Ainal Qudat, Vjara Manjushri, Seth Shiv Dayal, Guru Nanak, Hermes Trismegistus, and the contemporary African Born-Saint HIG Bambi Baaba Baabuwee first awakened to the inherent divine side (or mystical way of life and living) within their own minds and souls.
Many Africans do not even know about the many Black Americans who have produced inventions that have greately contributed to the scientific and technological growth and development of the United States. The reason here is that even when they read about any one of these inventors, Africans in Africa never get to know that the inventors they have read about was or is a black person unless if the article carries a photograph of the inventor or if in the context, it is mentioned that the inventor is or was a black man; ironically these articles usually never carry a photo or mention the race of the person and so, Africans are kept in the dark about Black inventions and inventors. This is so because American black inventors carry names for their former slave masters up until this day. So when you read their names you think they are White persons.
The sad side of this is that modern day African governments have never focused on the identification and development of super-gifted children's talents and or gifts. They have tried to establish what they call special education but special education is not about super-gifted qualities. It is often designed for retarded children and if talent is focused upon there is not adequate research done about it in order that our teachers are well equipped in that regard. Mere seminars are not enough to equip a teacher of super-gifted children to be able to help them develop their qualities. Serious study must be done bythe teachers in respect of this vital question of our super-gifted kids.
This is the truth; It is not going to be any other race that will uplift African from the quagmire in which we find ourselves. We have to help ourselves emerge from it and to do this, we must never lose sight of the mystical virtue of humility, understanding that humility does not negate courage, bravery, determination and strength of character. Some African may think that when African re-takes her position of leadership in world matters she should enslave some other races. This is called revenge and revenge is the way of stupidity and ignorance. We can do better and far better as a people because remember, we shall always remain the father-mother race of all races upon this planet. And, this is not a superiority comlex but a complex of the highest sense of duty and responsibility we have over all races as our good children. This is why we must always, always welcome them because we are one with them no matter what.
The fact is there is a pitcher of knowledge within us- knowledge that we do not need to obtain from schools and colleges- but schools and colleges sometimes help polish it although more often than not, they may tarnish that inherent jewel of wisdom especially when the teachers are ignorant of these facts. This is not to denigrate academic education. On the contrary it is the statement of facts as they need to be if we are to develop our super-gifted born children.
The way conventional academics are set up and function leaves much undone because our teachers are not usually super-gifted themselves; nor are they especially trained tohandle our super-gifted kids and so they have very little understanding of what a super-gifted child needs or does not need in terms of nurturing and developing his or her inherent talent or gift. A super-gifted kid is not to be educated but educreated- a term that means helping nurturing his gift so he can use it to create values.
This is an area where Africa needs to focus, research and pour too much money into it. Once African talent is concentrated, supported and spiced with some esoteric knowledge and comprehension of the Natural Laws and how the forces of Creation operate, African will be on the road to self-sufficiency.
In the end let me say this: Africa, please develop talen from within. Only seek help when you have exhausted your talent. Africa is not going to steal and rob human brains from other countries as others have done over centuries. African labor helped develop America and many other countries around the world. It is time that African concentrated on her own human resources for her meaningful growth and development and she will soon shine as a rising star in world affairs once again. This is the prophecy: Once Africa looks to her own, recognize, respect, tap and develop the concealed potential in her own culture, tradition, brains, minds, both for mundane and spiritual affairs the continent will develop faster and will surprise the whole world with her strides towarda meaningful and sustainable development. Only then will Africa re-take her position of creative leadership in matters of this world. The redevelopment of African culture and tradition will need to search for areas of degeneration in order to rejuvenate and seek the divine spiritual oral tradition thereof. In this way, Africa will separate the chaff from the grains and will realize the precious divine spiritual culture and tradition; the common concealed mystical thread underlying all culture and tradition. Therein lies the immesuarable wealth- the basis Africa needs to unite and develop as one nation, one country one people.bhukabijumiro modified this message on 10-05-2008 20:28 with 7%: Unfinished message
