Egypt is Again African Champion!!
- Posted on Monday 11 February 2008 - 09:2610th of February became an unforgettable day for all Egyptians. This is the day that marked both the fifth and sixth African Cup of Nations, the first was in 2006 and the second was in 2008. The first after wining the strong Ivory Coast by penalties and the second was after winning the great Cameroon 1-0.
After winning this championship, the Egyptian national team gained many things:
-Being the only African team that won the championship two successive times twice: 1957-1959 and 2006-2008.
-Being the only African team that has won this title six times.
-Choosing 7 Egyptian players in the new African team. This proves the high performance by the team
-Selecting the player Hosni Abdel Rabo, who scored 4 goals in the tournament, as the best player in it.
-Selecting Essam el Hadary as the best goal keeper in the championship.
-Selecting a number of Egyptian players for either the "Man of the Match" Award or the "Fair Play" Award.
All this has pushed millions of Egyptians to go out in the streets celebrating this great victory. And sure much more awaits the champions after they will be received in the airport by the president Hosni Mubarak.
