Digital Citizen Indaba - You're Invited!

  1. Hi there

It's almost time for the 2nd annual Digital Citizen Indaba, which will be held in Grahamstown, South Africa, on Sunday September 9 2007. Bloggers, netactivists and other digital citizens will gather to explore issues around this year's theme of the Emergence of the Digital Citizen, with a special focus on Africa. We hope you will join us to make it a worthwhile, stimulating and interesting event.

Attendance is free, but you will need to make your own travel and
accommodation arrangements. Space is limited, so register now by visiting http://dci.ru.ac.za. (Please only register once you are sure you will be attending.)

The Indaba will be officially opened at a welcoming party on Saturday 8 September. The keynote speech and panel discussions will form the main programme on Sunday 9 September. The highly popular practical workshops and seminars will spill over to Monday 10 September, which is also the first day of Highway Africa. If you have registered for DCI, you will be able to attend some Highway Africa events on Monday. Registering for Highway Africa will entitle you to attend the rest of that conference, workshops on 11 September, formal dinners, etc. See the HA website at http://highwayafrica.ru.ac.za for more details.

I've included a copy of the draft programme (see below). If you're
interested in contributing -- or have any strong ideas you'd like to share -- let me know. It is, after all, about open conversation.

Visit the DCI website at http://dci.ru.ac.za and register now! It's free!

I look forward to meeting you in Grahamstown and to your active
participation. Otherwise, please forward this invitation.

    Elvira

PS: There are LIMITED scholarships available for those who need financial assistance getting here. See the 'scholarship' section on the website at http://dci.ru.ac.za

PPS: You'll notice a 'speed speaking' session on the programme. We're
picking up on this great idea from last year which gives delegates the opportunity to speak for a limited time on an aspect of the Internet or Blogosphere that is not covered in the main proceedings or is specific to their region. Let me know if you're interested...
