If you have not seen the movie Blood Diamond- do yourself a favour and enlighten yourself about war on the African continent-THE TRUTH. Aside from Leonardo Dicaprio"s excellent execution of a white Southern African accent [really he nails it!], the movie is bloody disturbingly honest about the brutality and greed for the diamond rush.
It"s got me thinking all right, that every woman wants that diamond ring one day on her finger, and all American rappers want to show-off their big diamond blings on their necks, fingers and now teeth, but no one has ever thought what it takes to get these bloody diamonds to our local jewelry dealer. I mean to think that these precious stones are wombed in the African soil. These stones are actually on the poorest continent in the world, these stones that make men wake up every morning to earn money so they can one day afford to buy the girl of their dreams, who"s been obsessively beautifying herself her whole life for the man of her dreams to finally put the biggest diamond on her finger- its all because of Africa"s fortunate natural treasures. But unfortunately Africa is loosing in this case, killing ourselves, eking through life , diseased, under developed and yet literally sitting on diamond and gold mines.
Its got me thinking about the lives Africa has lost and is still loosing for these bloody stones. The children that are stolen from their families and forced to became killing machines loosing their innocents and sanity. The loss of culture and traditions that has now resulted in corrupt and selfish leaders. The fruits, vegetables, animals and trees that have been totally destroyed just for these bloody stones.
Its got me thinking all this time Africans have been thought to be savage back-ward people, whom are incapable of developing and managing themselves. That Africa is a god forsaken place and nothing good happens and can come from there.
Its got me thinking that the truth about war in Africa is that its actually feed and has always been feed by a demand of its natural treasures. Africans are given guns to kill themselves so that some guy can have a reason to wake up in the morning and make money, and women"s dreams can eventually come true, but at the end we are all really slaves of blood diamonds.
