Aborted child trade. What a shame!
- Posted on Monday 29 October 2007 - 17:52About 4 centuries ago, the slave trade started in Africa with Eropeans stroming the continent to buy human beings from Africa to the News World. Last Friday 26 October, the a child trade story was brought out by media.
I am comparing this to the slave trade not only because the buyer is coming from the north and the “ item” from the south, but also because of the complicity of Africans themselves. In one report, a child told a reporter that people gave money to his father and promised him [the kid] that they will buy a car for him over there in the New World.
This reminds of those Africans who sold their own brothers during the slave trade just for some grams of salt or of gun powder.
This time, the reason for the business was not clear. Chadian president Deby thinks that the kinds were going to be sold to paedophiles or that they were going to be killed and stripped of their organs.
What is clear in this scandal, is that the French authorities have condemned it and have expressed much more concern to the 103 kids rather than to the 17 child-traders. Unicef has done the same. French ambassador to Chad went further to say that the child-traders will face justice in Chad.
The question now is to know who is behind this shameful trade. To rent a plane means money. Then who would have welcomed the children who apparently had no visas (since the embassy condemns the action)? I think an in-depth investigation is needed.
